Rise of Monsters
It was in year 540 when monsters were first reported in the mountains to the east, near the Dragon’s Nest. The initial reports were not taken seriously, as no proof of the monsters could be found and many stories were coming from weary travelers of elementals terrorizing their wagons and stealing supplies. It wasn’t until five years later when the reports were taken seriously. A graveyard in the city of Tyfalls suddenly came to life, and zombies terrorized the town until the city guard was able to put them town. Some even reported seeing a Lich, but nothing could be proven beyond the bodies of the undead. From that day forward monster sighting were common in the east, and month by month the sightings became more frequent. Two years ago the city of Caer Cola fell to monstrous forces led by great lich. A few months later Menegroth also fell. Most travelers began to avoid the east, but Llano would send regular scouts to monitor the progress of the plague. However the news was never good. With two cities under their control the monstrous armies began to spread quickly through the east, and 6 months ago they besieged the city of Llano. The attackers were repelled, but for the first time men from across the world were able to see the Monstrous armies with their own eyes, and brought back stories of the horrors they had witnessed. The world began to prepare for war.
No one is sure what is causing the rise of the monsters. Most believe the Kimber has returned to wreak havoc on the world and bring dragons to reign terror on them all. A few believe it is a powerful copycat. But none can come close to the strongholds in the east to investigate further. Scouts report an even larger army amassing and heading again towards Llano. While the loss of the city would slightly hurt the war effort (Llano is home to greatest smiths in the land) it would not greatly affect world trade. It would, however be a great blow to the kingdom of Tommen to lose their capital city.
